Inductive Charging

A charging technology for electric commercial vehicles: inductive charging is understood as contactless power transfer between two coils placed one above the other. The transmitter coil is installed in the road infrastructure (set into the road surface, for example) and uses alternating current to generate an alternating magnetic field. Should the receiver coil in a vehicle be positioned above this magnetic field, then electrical energy can be transferred to the vehicle. The advantages regarding urban development are that there is no visual disturbance and no mechanical system components are involved. The disadvantages are the high costs of equipping vehicles and infrastructure, as well as the safety difficulties. Other options for supplying energy to e-vehicles are conductive charging via a cable or contact and battery replacement.
